Meet the Designer: Mireille Eid
Mireille Eid
Founder and Designer of Miniz Jewelry
My first memory of jewelry is not a shop window. It is my sister at her jeweler's bench, carving blue wax into delicate forms before they became metal.
In 2010, that fascination became a practice. For ten years I studied jewelry design. In 2020, in the middle of Lebanon's financial crisis, I gave that journey a name: Miniz.
At my lowest point, the UAE was generous to me. It gave me a chance, and Miniz found a wider community there — and then far beyond, among Arabs around the world who wear our pieces like a piece of home. I will always be grateful.
Behind the designer is an entrepreneur who does most things herself — walking the local markets for materials, following every piece through the workshops, building the website on my own. It has not always been easy. Every order reminds me why I keep going.
And because I am a teacher at heart, Miniz also teaches. At our atelier in Lebanon, we offer courses in jewelry craftsmanship, design and CAD — passing on what took me years to learn.
I am a Lebanese designer with a background in technology: I love precision and balance. Scuba diving shaped my love of blue; tango taught me rhythm and grace — the same things I look for in the curve of a cuff or the fall of a necklace.
Some MINIZ pieces are made from scratch with skilled makers in Lebanon. Bolder statement pieces I compose myself from selected clasps, pendants, chains and stones.
One of my dreams is to study jewelry design in Florence. Until then, Miniz is jewelry for the stories we carry — and the ones still waiting to be written.
